We are notifying you of a new vulnerability which impacts most Intel based processors. The two most recent vulnerabilities are “Meltdown” and “Spectre.”  You can use this link to find out more about the vulnerabilities and the ways in which attackers can use them to disrupt your security and server.

Many OS and vendor companies have released their first set of security patches which will help keep your server as safe and secure as possible. The patches and updates available today are a good starting place to make sure your server is secure. Over the coming weeks, additional updates will be provided, and another update will be required.

All Cloud Instances (managed or self-managed):

If you have a cloud server with us, we will perform maintenance over the next week to fully reboot our entire VMware infrastructure. Please note, the current patch set we will apply will impact overall performance of your virtual machine. The patch set available now repairs the vulnerability but impacts the compute of the processor which impacts performance. We apologize for this inconvenience but we must take this action to ensure security of your virtual cloud instance. There is no action required on your part. As soon as the next patch set is released which improve performance and continues to protect against the vulnerability,  will run another update with 5 business days of the patch set being released and tested in our development / testing environments.

Managed Dedicated Servers:

If you have a managed dedicated server with us, we will be contacting you soon to perform an update and a reboot which best fits within your schedule.  Please note that we need to have all reboots completed by January 31st 2018.

Self-Managed Dedicated Servers:

We can provide a free one-time reboot of your service to help patch against the latest vulnerabilities. Please coordinate with our support team at your convenience.
